This masterclass explores the interplay between innovation culture, EU research and innovation policies, and regulatory frameworks in the health and biotech sectors. It examines how different innovation culture models — including open innovation, co-creation and industry-driven ecosystems — support the transition from research to real-world and market-ready solutions. In parallel, the session provides a practical overview of key European funding instruments and policies shaping health R&I, such as Horizon Europe, EIT Health, and emerging EU regulations on health data, AI and data governance. Through concrete examples from industry and EU-funded projects, the masterclass highlights how culture, policy and ecosystem collaboration jointly influence innovation capacity, compliance, and time-to-market, with particular relevance to diagnostics and One Health applications.
