As part of its ongoing public health initiatives, the Department of Public health of the Prefecture of Crete held an informational event on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the House of Culture in Rethymno, titled:
“Emergency Incidents – Outbreaks of Waterborne and Foodborne Diseases: Tools, Practices, and Protocols.”
The event aimed to inform and educate health professionals, hotel operators, and local stakeholders on effective measures to respond to cases of gastroenteritis and other infectious diseases, following several mass outbreak incidents recorded in some parts of the island (such as Gavdos and Chania) in order to safeguard public health and ensure effective outbreak management.
The event emphasized the urgent need for systematic prevention and coordinated outbreak response, highlighting that strict adherence to public health protocols is essential — not only for protecting the population but also for maintaining Crete’s image as a safe and trusted tourist location.
DxHub was present in this event, further emphasizing the need for prevention and proposing solutions to be built with the collaboration of the community, to address local needs.
